Pembroke Dock Skip Hire FAQs
What is classed as a builders skip?
The builder’s skip can refer to either the 8 or 6 yard skip. They are the biggest skips that can be used to dispose of substantial building waste such as stone, concrete, rubble or clay.
A builder’s skip is perfect for a wide range of jobs. If you are getting an extension built, renovating your bathroom or cleaning out your loft, these substantial skips tend to be the most cost-effective option available.
What skip sizes have got a door?
Virtually all skip sizes can be provided with a drop door, making them easy to load. However, we can’t always guarantee this. If you would like a skip that has a drop-down door, please tell us when placing your order, and we can do our very best to accommodate.
Having a skip which has a drop-down door makes it easier to load waste into the bin, particularly with weighty materials, such as soil and gravel, which can be walked in with a wheelbarrow. It also makes it easier to put in big and bulky items, like household furniture.
How long am I able to hire a skip for?
The fee for hiring a skip will usually include a hire period of up to 2 weeks. Usually, that will provide you with sufficient time to load the skip. However, if you do need a bit more time, contact us, and we will see what we can do.
Needless to say, in the event you finish with your skip earlier, we are happy to arrange a pick up. Just tell us when you have finished, and then we will organise to send out one of our drivers to collect the skip as quickly as possible.
Where will you take the rubbish from my skip?
After you have finished filling your skip, we come and get it. It will be taken to a waste recycling centre in or local to Pembroke Dock where we segregate the waste into its composite types (wood, metal, concrete, etc.). By separating the waste, we can recycle as much of it as possible.
How much will skip hire in Pembroke Dock cost?
The cost of hiring a skip in Pembroke Dock depends on the size of skip you want. The lowest priced skip available will be the 2 cubic yard mini skip, which is perfect for small DIY projects and general clearances. If you need a larger sized skip, such as an 8 cubic yard builder’s skip, it will naturally cost more. The charge will also be more if you want to have the skip placed on the highway, because you will require a permit, which the local authority charge a fee for.
What types of waste am I allowed to put in the skip?
You can fill up your skip with a variety of different waste types that are commonly produced from loft clearances, building work, garden landscaping and many other jobs. This could include wood, dirt, concrete, garden trimmings, pieces of furniture, toys, cabinets or old bathroom fittings.
What you throw in your skip will depend on which skip size you have ordered, as there is a weight limit. For instance, if you are using your skip for heavy building wastes including concrete or dirt, the largest size you would be able to get is an 8 cubic yard builders skip.
Some materials cannot be discarded in your skip. This can include fridges, computer monitors, tyres, paint, asbestos, plasterboard and chemicals. These materials will be classed as hazardous waste and therefore have to be disposed of separately.
How do you order a skip?
This is the easy part. First, select the size of skip you want to hire. Let us know if the skip is going to be going on private property (a drive, for example) or local authority property (such as the street). Next, pick the date you would like the skip to be delivered. Confirm your order details and make payment using our secure online payment system. Order complete! We will deliver your chosen skip to Pembroke Dock on the date you have selected.
What are the different skip sizes to pick from?
Skips are offered in a selection of sizes to suit different waste disposal needs. They are measured by volume, typically in cubic yards. The smallest of which is the 2 cubic yard skip, often referred to as the mini skip. It will hold roughly 25 bags of rubbish, which is perfect for small household projects.
Next up is the 4 cubic yard skip, which will hold approximately 35 black bags of waste. This skip is roughly the size of a smallish car and is sometimes known as a midi skip. The 4 yd is an excellent choice for attic clearances and home refurbishment jobs.
When you have a more substantial rubbish disposal job to take on, a builder’s skip may be the most suitable option. These can be ordered in both 6 and 8 cubic yards. As the name indicates, these represent the most popular sizes hired by builders for building waste, including clay and rubble. But they can equally well be used for household waste such as outdated furniture or bathroom suites.
We also offer 10-16 yard containers and commercial 20-40 yard roll-on roll-off containers. For additional information about the range of skip sizes we have available, click on the link below.
Can you deliver skips across Dyfed?
We provide a UK wide skip hire and recycling service through a network of approved and fully licensed local businesses. So whether you would like skip hire in Pembroke Dock, Goodwick, Laugharne, Carmarthen or another area in Dyfed, we can help.
How long will it take to get a skip in Pembroke Dock?
We will ask you to confirm when you want the skip to be delivered as part of the order process, and we’ll make sure that it’s with you on the date that you have asked for. The vast majority of our deliveries are made between Monday and Saturday.
When you confirm your order prior to 3pm on Monday to Friday, we can typically have the skip delivered to you the next day.
Although we cannot promise what time we will arrive, we endeavour to provide you with an AM or PM delivery slot to manage your day more conveniently.
All we ask is that you ensure the delivery lorry can access your required delivery position, as failed deliveries will lead to a fee for the wasted trip.
Will a skip hire company from Pembroke Dock deliver my skip?
As we provide a UK-wide skip hire service, we utilise a diverse network of approved companies. These can include small local skip hire firms to nationwide waste management service providers. Each of our service providers are vetted to make sure they match our high customer service and environmental principles.
If I require a skip on a road in Pembroke Dock, will I need a permit?
In most cases, it is possible to have a skip put on the road, pavement or grass verge outside of your property or business. But to get this done, you must have consent from the local authority in Pembroke Dock, which is called a skip permit. We will order this on your behalf, so you don’t have to worry. The council do charge a fee for the license, and it will sometimes take up to 24-2 days for them to authorise this.
Am I able to dispose of electronic items in my skip?
I’m afraid not, since electronic items including old televisions, freezers, computers and computer monitors are classed as hazardous waste materials. As a result of the Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013, these objects need to be kept separate for them to be recycled and disposed of in a safe and eco-friendly fashion.
How much waste can a mini skip hold?
If you are looking for a low cost skip to dispose of some domestic rubbish, a mini skip could be just the thing you need. With a choice of either a 2 or 3 cubic yard capacity (based upon area), the mini skip is a cost-effective rubbish disposal option to take on many tasks.
A mini skip can fit on the smallest of drives but can also be located on the side of the road, subject to receiving a skip permit from the council.
Although most commonly hired by domestic customers, the mini skip can even tackle smaller commercial jobs.
Should I stay in when the skip is delivered?
You don’t need to be at home when the skip is delivered, but it will help. Being there whenever the skip is delivered means that you can ensure the driver is given complete access and that your skip is placed exactly where you need it. Similarly, if the skip is being delivered to business property, we will appreciate your support at the time of delivery, especially if gates will restrict the lorry’s access.
Even so, for those who can’t be available at the time of delivery, you don’t need to worry. We simply ask you to let us know when you book your order, and we will arrange everything from there.
What size roll-on roll-off containers can you offer?
The RORO (roll-on roll-off) is a large container used to get rid of large volumes of waste. In the majority of cases, these skips are hired for industrial purposes. However, domestic customers may also order them. It is very important consider the area they will occupy, because they measure between 20 to 40 cubic yards. For this reason, they should only be hired for lightweight materials such as paper, wood and cardboard, and are not appropriate for the removal of soil and hardcore.
Is it okay to stack up waste in my skip?
I’m afraid not. You can only load your skip up to the level load mark. Stacking waste up over this line will make it dangerous to transport, and you might be asked to take off the excess waste before your skip can be picked up. This includes using doors, sheets of wood or other materials to raise the skip height. Again, this will make transportation of the skip dangerous and it can also make it overweight.
Other areas covered include Goodwick, Laugharne, Carmarthen, Llandovery, Aberaeron, Llanelli, St Clears and Ammanford.
