Birmingham Skip Hire FAQs
How much does it cost to hire a skip in Birmingham?
Our aim is to provide you with the lowest priced skip hire service in Birmingham. The price you pay will, obviously, depend upon the size of skip you hire. This ranges from the mini skip, which is the lowest priced option, all the way up to the 40 cubic yard roll-on roll-off container. If you wish to have the skip positioned on the street or any other council owned property, you will also need to factor in the additional cost of a skip permit.
Will a Birmingham skip hire company deliver my skip?
We use a large network of both regional and national skip hire businesses to deliver skips to our customers in Birmingham and the rest of the country. Every one of our partner skip companies are approved and evaluated to make certain they meet our standards for cost, customer service, recycling and reliability.
How do you order a skip in Birmingham?
Ordering a skip in Birmingham with us is very easy. Decide on the skip size you will need and then enter a few details about where and when you would like your skip to be delivered. After that you can pay for your skip using our safe and secure online payment system. We will send a confirmation email and schedule to get your skip delivered on the date you have selected.
Am I able to get rid of electrical items in my skip?
Electronic objects including television sets, freezers, fridges, personal computers, monitors and vacuum cleaners are all classed as a hazardous waste and therefore should not be thrown in your skip with other waste. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 requires that electronic products have to be segregated from other waste. This helps ensure they can be reused, recycled and disposed of within the safest and most environmentally friendly way.
What size is a mini skip?
The mini skip will be the most compact skip delivered by skip firms and is ideal for smaller DIY tasks, garden clearances and general tidy-ups. For most companies, the mini skip is a 2 yard skip, which will contain the equivalent of roughly 25 black bags worth of waste.
Rather than a 2 cubic yard skip, some skip companies offer you a 3 yard as their smallest skip. They will likely refer to this as being a mini skip, which can be slightly confusing. But rest assured, the actual cost of hiring the skip depends on the actual size of the skip you order, so whether it is classed as being a mini skip or not will not make any difference.
What will happen to the waste in the skip?
As soon as your skip is full and ready for collection, we will collect it and transport it to a nearby waste recycling station, where it will be processed. The waste will get segregated into a number of waste streams, including wood, soil and cardboard. This helps to ensure as much of the rubbish will be recycled as possible. Our company is proud of our dedication to minimising environmental impact by sending as little waste to landfill as possible!
How long am I able to hire a skip for?
You can normally hire your skip for up to a fortnight from the date that it is delivered to you. To ensure that the collection is as convenient as possible, you have the choice of offering a preferred collection time when placing your order.
Otherwise, just tell us when you’ve finished loading up the skip, and we will arrange to collect sooner – in the majority of cases, it will be the following working day.
It might take a little bit longer to collect your skip over busy periods, however we will always try to be there as swiftly as possible.
Can you deliver to other areas in West Midlands?
Along with delivering skips and containers to Birmingham, we can also deliver to other towns and villages across West Midlands. With the help of our network of local and national waste management and recycling businesses, we provide you with a truly nationwide service. So whether you need a skip delivering to Birmingham, Darlaston or Smethwick, we have got you covered.
Which skip sizes will have a drop door?
The majority of skip sizes can be delivered with a drop down door, which makes them easier to load. However, unfortunately we cannot always guarantee this. If you would like a skip that has a drop-down door, please let us know when making your order, and we will do our very best to accommodate.
Having a skip that has a drop-down door makes it easier to load rubbish into the bin, particularly with weighty materials, like dirt and gravel, which can be walked in using a wheelbarrow. This also makes it easier to put in big and bulky objects, such as furniture.
Do I have to be home whenever the skip is delivered?
It is usually best if you can be in when anyone delivers anything to your house. That enables you to make sure there is access for your delivery, and the skip can be placed just where you want it.
The same thing applies for those who have a business. If there is a gate or security, it might not be possible to get a skip delivered if you are not present.
Nonetheless, when it is unavoidable and the access is not a problem, you don’t have to be there when the skip is delivered.
What size skips can you supply?
We offer a wide selection of skip sizes to match your particular needs, from 2 to 40 cubic yards. Our smallest skip is the 2 cubic yard mini skip, which is a compact skip ideal for small DIY tasks and house clearances. A common option for larger sized tasks, refurbishments and construction work is the 8 cubic yard builders skip.
For Birmingham firms which produce a large quantity of bulky waste, we can supply RoRo containers (roll on roll off skips), ranging from 20-40 cubic yards in size.

How fast can you deliver a skip in Birmingham?
We will ask you to confirm when you need the skip to be delivered during the order process, and we’ll ensure that it’s with you on the day that you’ve requested. Most of our deliveries are made between Monday and Saturday.
When you confirm your booking before 3pm on a Monday to Friday, we will normally have the skip delivered to you the next day.
Although we cannot guarantee what time we will arrive, we strive to give you an AM or PM delivery slot to manage your day more conveniently.
All we ask is that you ensure the delivery lorry has access to your required delivery position, as failed deliveries can result in a charge for the wasted journey.
What can I put in my skip?
You can throw a wide array of waste into your skip. This includes wood, bathroom tiles, plastics or concrete from a household clearance. Tree and bush clippings, top soil and rock from garden jobs are permitted as well. Cupboards from your kitchen and old bathroom fittings can also go in a skip.
However, there are some things that can’t be put in a skip because of the potential ecological or health risks they might cause.
You cannot throw in your refrigerator, computer or your old car tyres. Asbestos, paint or chemical waste is also prohibited in the skip. Each of these things include hazardous elements in one form or another. They need to be disposed of separately from general rubbish.
If you want hazardous waste disposal, we may be able to arrange an independent collection for this waste. Please get in touch for further information. Alternatively, if you are a residential customer, you may be able to take this type of waste to your local council managed recycling centre.
Can a skip be dropped on a road in Birmingham?
In the vast majority of situations, your skip can be delivered onto your drive, the road, path or grass verge and deliveries can be made to your home or place of work. If you want the skip to be placed on land outside of your company or home, you must get authorisation from the local council in Birmingham, which is known as a skip permit. If necessary, we will be glad to organise this on your behalf, so it’s one less issue to think about. The council will charge a fee for the permit, and you should know before booking that securing the permit will often take up to two working days.
What is a roll-on roll-off container?
The roll-on roll-off skip, sometimes referred to as a RORO, is a large container used to get rid of large quantities of waste. These containers are mainly for industrial use but can be used by household clients also. However, you will want plenty of room since these skips range from 20 to 40 cubic yards, which is much larger than the average skip you will likely see on a neighbour’s driveway.
As a result of the size, RORO containers can only be hired for lightweight materials such as plastics, timber and paper, and so they are not suited to disposing of concrete and bricks.
Is it okay to load up the skip higher than the top?
It is important to not overfill your skip, as you run the risk of being asked to take out excess waste before it can be collected. Regardless of the size you hire, you are only allowed to load them to a level load. This is a safety condition, as transporting an overloaded bin can be unsafe, as rubbish could drop and result in personal injury or damage to other people.
To avoid this problem, please make sure you hire a size suited to your waste removal requirements. If the skip is full but you have additional rubbish to get rid of, we are pleased to arrange an exchange.
How much waste can I get in a builder’s skip?
As the name suggests, a builder’s skip means the size of skip most commonly hired for building and demolition projects. There are typically two different skip sizes which can be labelled as a builder’s skip – the 6 cubic yard and 8 cubic yard skip. These are both heavy-duty containers which can be used to dispose of large quantities of construction and demolition materials, including earth, concrete and rock.
Even though they are labelled a builders skip, these can of course be used for a number of other domestic and business waste disposal jobs.
Other areas covered include Darlaston, Smethwick, Wolverhampton, Bilston, Royal Sutton Coldfield, Wednesbury, Coventry and Tipton.
